Summer Art Experience
August 2006
Thanks to a grant provided by the Chatham County Arts Council,
11 CCT! youth had the rare opportunity to learn from Chatham County
art masters.
Side Street Gallery in downtown Pittsboro hosted
a week long immersion project where students were exposed to a number
of mediums used in art production and explored art history.
Michael Mosca, co-owner of Side Street, covered sculpture installation,
Vitabeth Bensen taught screen printing, Joan Sommers demonstrated
Chinese Ink Painting and Leslie Palmer instructed on ink, chalk,
charcoal and graphite. Every student prepared a project from each
of these mediums and then displayed their work at a gallery exhibit
on July 9th.
